Terms of Service
Effective Date: July 1, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Kindred platform, website, and related services (collectively, the "Service") operated by Kindred Home Education ("Kindred," "we," "our," or "us"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.
Beta Access
The Service is currently in beta. Access is by invitation only. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service or your access at any time during the beta period without notice or liability. Features, pricing, and availability are subject to change.
Beta participants agree to provide honest feedback and understand that the Service may contain bugs, errors, or incomplete features.
Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. By creating an account, you represent that you are a parent or legal guardian and have the authority to create and manage family profiles within the Service.
Accounts
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to notify us immediately at support@plankindred.app if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.
You may not create accounts on behalf of others without their consent, share accounts between unrelated families, or use the Service for any commercial purpose other than managing your own household.
Intellectual Property
Kindred's Ownership
The Service — including all software, algorithms, code, design, user interface, visual elements, features, workflows, and content created by Kindred — is owned exclusively by Kindred Home Education and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
This includes, without limitation:
- The push/repack lesson scheduling system and all scheduling algorithms
- The curriculum planning and auto-scheduling workflows
- The habit reveal and goal reward mechanics
- All visual design, branding, and user interface elements
- The Kindred name, logo, and all associated marks
You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, modify, create derivative works of, publicly display, or otherwise exploit any part of the Service without our express written permission.
Your Content
You retain ownership of all content you create and upload to the Service ("Your Content"), including lesson plans, curriculum materials, family data, notes, images, and documents.
By uploading or creating content through the Service, you grant Kindred a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to store, process, and display Your Content solely as necessary to operate and provide the Service to you. This license ends when you delete Your Content or close your account.
You represent that you have all rights necessary to upload Your Content and that it does not infringe any third-party intellectual property rights.
Feedback
If you submit feedback, suggestions, or ideas about the Service, you grant Kindred the right to use that feedback freely and without compensation or attribution. Feedback you provide does not create any ownership interest in the Service.
Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
- Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or extract the source code of the Service
- Scrape, copy, or reproduce any part of the Service's design, workflows, or algorithms
- Upload content that infringes third-party intellectual property rights
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service or its infrastructure
- Use the Service to build a competing product or service
Third-Party Integrations
The Service may connect to third-party services such as Google Calendar. Your use of those integrations is subject to the third party's own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the practices of third-party services.
Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranty of any kind. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components. Your use of the Service is at your own risk.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Kindred shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the Service, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim (which during beta is zero).
Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, for any reason, with or without notice. You may close your account at any time by contacting us. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of [YOUR STATE], without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be resolved in the courts located in [YOUR STATE].
Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Updated Terms will be posted with a revised Effective Date. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
